An IBM Maximo alternative: our honest comparison
Evaluating an alternative to IBM Maximo? Here is an honest comparison, with no bashing. Maximo is an EAM heavyweight, built for large portfolios of critical assets. If you are looking for an alternative, it is usually for a specific reason: a tool focused on the field essentials, a smaller entry budget or support in French. Maint Vision is a modern CMMS that targets the field essentials. The best tiebreaker remains the free trial, with no credit card.
IBM Maximo is an EAM benchmark, and we say so openly
Let’s be clear: IBM Maximo is one of the market benchmarks in EAM (Enterprise Asset Management), long established. This comparison is not here to disqualify it, but to help you choose based on your context. People usually look for an alternative to Maximo for a specific reason: the entry budget, the need for a tool focused on the essentials, or support in French. Acknowledging the other’s strengths is the starting point of an honest comparison.
What IBM Maximo does very well
Maximo covers a very broad scope, well beyond a CMMS: full asset life cycle, reliability, monitoring and predictive maintenance, advanced modules around IoT and inspection. It is proven across asset-intensive, critical industries: energy, transport, utilities, heavy industry. It is deployed as SaaS, with a choice of hosting regions that includes Germany, or on your own servers, and it can be tried free for 14 days (Manage and Health). If you are a large group with a maintenance planning department, a project budget and integrators, Maximo is built for that scale. On that ground, Maint Vision does not play in the same category, and we would rather say so plainly.
Where Maint Vision stands out: a focused CMMS, ready within days
This is the most concrete difference. Maximo is a complete EAM suite, with several deployment modes and entry packages under USD 40K a year; Maint Vision starts on its own: you create your account, import your equipment from a spreadsheet and get going within days. No mandatory specification. For an SMB or mid-size company that wants to structure its maintenance quickly, this simplicity changes everything.
French and English written together, AI in the Business plan, public pricing
Maint Vision is written in French and English at the same time: interface, labels, emails and documentation speak the trade’s vocabulary, and support replies in French, whereas Maximo’s support is provided in English. Procedure AI is included in the Business plan, whereas Maximo offers its AI features as an add-on (AI Service). Pricing is public on both sides: at Maint Vision, per user and per month (EUR 15 or 35, excluding VAT), with a 30-day trial with no card, every module except AI, for up to 2 users; IBM sells directly and through partners, with public entry prices (under USD 40K a year) and a quote for the details.
When to choose Maximo, when Maint Vision is enough
Our honest advice. Choose IBM Maximo if you are an asset-intensive organization that needs a full EAM (reliability, predictive, the financial dimension of assets), a project team and heavy integrations. Look at Maint Vision if you are an industrial SMB or mid-size company, a single site or a multi-site organization, that wants the essential CMMS workflows (work orders, preventive, assets, parts, QR, mobile) with a self-serve start and per-user pricing.
